Nestled in the Canadian Rockies, the
picturesque mountain town of Canmore, Alberta was established as a coal mining centre
in 1883. It's located approximately 105 km (65 miles) west of Calgary and just
east of the Banff National Park gates. If you're travelling from the east
along the Trans-Canada highway (#1), Canmore is the first major town you'll
see once you enter the mountains - making it truly the Gateway to the Canadian
Rockies!
Today, Canmore
shows little of its industrial past. The breathtaking
landscapes in the surrounding area are the inspiration for Marilyn Kinsella's
watercolour artwork. The ever-changing mountain light and seasons challenge both
her ability and imagination. Marilyn's love for the mountains comes through in
the exquisite brush strokes of her beautiful watercolour paintings of the
local surroundings.
For artists of any age or
experience level, if you're planning on a trip to Canmore, the Bow Valley,
or the Canadian Rockies, you may want to consider one of Marilyn's
summer
watercolour workshops. Surround yourself with the beauty of the mountains while you work on your
watercolour painting skills.
Set amid the rugged majesty of the front
ranges of the Canadian Rockies on the floor of the Bow Valley, you'll surely enjoy
Canmore's picturesque surroundings and breathtaking scenery.
